오징어 게임이 난리다. 

난 넷플릭스 시청자이면서도 아직 오징어 게임을 안봤다..;;;

9부작이던데 한번보면 끝까지 봐야하는 내 습관(?) 때문에

넷플릭스는 드라마 보다는 영화를 자주 보기때문인데.

다음주쯤 몰아서 볼예정이다.

요즘 뉴스를 보면 전부다 오징어게임에 대한 이야기뿐..

해외반응은 너무 많고 일단 공신력있는 해외언론 반응을 살펴보자.

먼저  영국 BBC 는

'왜 모두가 오징어 게임을 보는가' 라는 제목으로 기사를냈다.

about mob mentality, about who holds power and why, and how that power is executed.

Even if you haven't watched the show or seen the memes 

taking over the internet - chances are you've probably heard of Squid Game.

그 드라마를 보지 않거나, 인터넷을 장악한 짤들을 보지 않았어도, 오징어 게임을 아마 들어봤을 가능성이 높다. 

Everyone has been talking about the hyper-violent thriller that has become a massive 

hit ever since it launched on Netflix two weeks ago.

모두가 2주전 넷플릭스에 나온 이래로 어마어마한 히트를 치고 있는 

이 극도로 폭력적인 스릴러 물에 대해 이야기 하고 있다. 

While the genre of the show is hardly new, its striking visuals, relatable characters 

and disturbing study of human nature have spoken to audiences all around the world.

이 드라마 장르는 새로울 게 없지만, 인상적인 비주얼, 공감대를 형성하는 캐릭터들,

Netflix's latest hit really kills. 

넷플릭스의 최신 히트작은 정말 죽인다.

"Squid Game" is a South Korean fictional drama in which contestants 

who are deeply in debt play children's games in order to win a ton of cash.

“오징어 게임”은 한국의 드라마로, 심각하게 빚을 진 사람들이 어머어마한 돈을 따내기 위해 아동용 게임에 참여한다. 

The downside is that losers will be killed.

안좋은 점은 패자는 죽는다는 것이다.

To say the horror series is causing a buzz would be an understatement.

이 공포물이 엄청난 관심을 끌고 있다고 말하는 건 너무 절제한 표현일 것이다.

It's a bit of a phenomenon much like the South Korean film "Parasite" turned out to be.

이는 오히려 경이로운 현상에 가깝다. 마치 한국의 영화 “기생충”이 그러했듯이.

한국의 문화가 최근 10년 동안 미국에서 주류 문화가 되었다고 적고있다.

한 애널리스트는 블룸버그 언론사에, 

"한국 회사들이 점차 헐리우드의 기존 강자들에 엄청난 경쟁력으로 무장해서 위협하고 있다"라고 평론을

마지막으로 넷플릭스 CEO 의 한마디...

“‘오징어 게임’이 넷플릭스가 현재까지 선보인 모든 작품 중 가장 큰 작품이 될 가능성이 있다.”

테드 사란도스 넷플릭스 공동 최고경영자(CEO) 겸 최고콘텐츠책임자(CCO)가 

미국 로스앤젤레스에서 9월 27일 열린 ‘코드 콘퍼런스 2021’에서 한 얘기다.

코드 콘퍼런스는 글로벌 기업의 리더와 언론인 등이 모여 시대 흐름에 대한 토론을 나누는 행사다. 

사란도스 CEO를 비롯해 엘론 머스크 테슬라 CEO, 제이슨 킬라 워너브러더스 CEO 등이 올해 행사에 참석했다.

이날 행사에서 사란도스 CEO는 “넷플릭스가 오리지널 콘텐츠로 선보인 한국 드라마 ‘오징어 게임’이

 대부분의 국가에서 넷플릭스 ‘오늘의 톱 10’ 1위를 차지하고 있다”고 말했다.

그는 이어 “공개 후 9일이 지난 지금 추세로 보면 넷플릭스의 비영어권 작품 중 

가장 큰 작품이 될 것으로 보인다”고 전망했다.
